Heron and Chick Retreats A Real Vacation for Moms

A few days away, with your child, where someone else handles the meals, the schedule, and the wake-ups — so you actually get to be on vacation.

Get on the list

Sound familiar?

You've packed the bags, planned the meals, remembered the sunscreen, and somehow still did bedtime — just in a different zip code. That's not a vacation. That's your job, on location.

Heron and Chick Retreats is a few days, just you and your child, somewhere surrounded by nature — where someone else cooks, someone else watches the kids, and your only job is to show up.

What's included

  • 01

    Meals, handled.

Every meal is prepared for you — and it's actually good. Tell us about dietary needs in advance and we'll take care of it.

  • 02

Real childcare, not a "kids' club."

Trained, Montessori-style teachers run daytime programming at least 4 hours a day, built for ages 0–5. At night, a dedicated child-minder is on rotation checking in on sleeping kids — so you can actually relax at the evening circle instead of listening for a cry yourself.

  • 03

    Your own space.

A private room and bathroom for you and your children, plus shared common spaces to gather in.

  • 04

    Yoga, at your pace.

One to two sessions a day, while your child is in daytime programming. No experience required.

  • 05

Time made for just the two (or three) of you.

A daily mom-and-child activity — nature crafts and other hands-on moments, age-appropriate from babies to preschoolers, built for connecting, not managing.

  • 06

    Actual nature.

The kind of outside that doesn't come with a to-do list.

  • 07

    Evening circle.

Once the kids are settled in for the night, gather for a themed women's circle with a cocktail or mocktail in hand.

Location & timing

First retreat: April 5–9, 2027 (Spring Break), Georgia. Exact venue coming soon — join the list to be the first to know.

We picked spring break on purpose. It's one of the only weeks school is out that most workplaces don't recognize — which usually means a scramble for coverage instead of a break. This retreat is built for that exact week.

Why I built this

I have a spectacular two-year-old. Like most moms, I've taken the "family vacation" — the one where you booked the hotel and the flights and the car, researched and put together an itinerary you hoped worked for everyone and the nap schedule, found a pet sitter, did last-minute late-night online shopping for all the things you need, speed-packed the night before for you and your child (and most definitely forgot something important), remembered everyone's favorite snacks in order to go on your vacation where you still have to figure out every meal and handle middle-of-the-night wake-ups and keep everyone entertained, just somewhere with a nicer view.

That's not a vacation. That's the same job, in a hotel.

And that's not even the harder part. Spring break, winter break, teacher workdays — none of it lines up with my job. Every school holiday turns into the same scramble: patchwork childcare, calling in favors, burning PTO just to cover a Tuesday. I wanted one week a year where that scramble turns into something good instead — a retreat that's already built for the exact days my kid is out of school and I'm not out of office.

I started Heron and Chick Retreats because I wanted something that didn't exist yet: a few days away where my daughter and I could actually be together — not me managing her, not me "on" the whole time — and I could come home actually rested, not needing a vacation from my vacation.

If that sounds like something you've never quite had either, I'd love for you to be part of the first one.
